• Upcoming Changes to the Essentials Program and Certification Testing:
    • Starting January 1, 2026, the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy will be changing the EL22 program. The modular style program and terminology has been removed with the implementation of the NFPA 1010 programs.
    • There will be a new format for this program, Pennsylvania Entry Level Fire Training EL26:
      • ELFS (Entry Level Fireground Support) – 48 hour program
      • ELFF1 (Entry Level Firefighter I) – 88 hour program
      • ELFF2 (Enty Level Firefighter II) – 40 hour program
    • Certification Registration is now mandatory for all candidates through ACADIS. Without registering, candidates will not be able to complete any Certification testing per the PSFA.
