DESCRIPTION:This professional level of certification was developed in response to the need\nof assuring safe roadway operations in managing and controlling traffic during\nroadway incidents. This certification focuses on personnel from Fire, Emergency\nMedical Services, Law Enforcement, Towing and Recovery agencies, in addition\nthe Department of Transportation and Turnpike Authority\nThe Traffic Incident Management Personnel – NFPA 1091 certification provides\na measure of knowledge at the minimum competency level that would enhance\nthe awareness and activities at a roadway incident . Testing is all skill based\nand consists of:\n* Establishing a Traffic Incident Management Area (TIMA)\n* Using Temporary Traffic Control Devices (TTCD)\n* Managing scene communications\n* Controlling scene access to non-involved persons\n* Demonstrating lane tapers, lane blocking, and controlling intersections\nPre-requisites for testing\nSuccessful completion of the following courses:\n• Highway Incident/Traffic Management Course\n• Incident Command Course\n• Trained or Certified at a minimum to the Hazmat Awareness level\nCost for this Certification is $195.00\n
